Segnieur Modern is an elegant family of sans-serif fonts engineered for editorial work. A large x-height and open letterforms enhance the family’s readability at all text sizes. Coupled with ascenders that rise slightly above the heights of Segnieur Modern’s capital letters and numerals, text set with the typeface retains a traditional word image. However, Segnieur Modern’s dramatic appearance in text is primarily due to its sharply delineated, streamlined letterforms. The lowercase letters, in particular, look as if they may once have belonged to a serif typeface but have since had their serifs removed. The result is an elegant play of thickening and thinning strokes, which is summarized very well in the lowercase ‘a’.
