Frontliner

Description

Frontliner is a robust family of grotesque-style sans serifs, designed specifically for editorial design. Its name reflects its suitability for headlines and impactful text settings. The typeface is primarily monolinear, with letterforms that are slightly wide and semi-extended. Terminals are cleanly cut on the horizontal or vertical, while square dots on letterforms and punctuation add to its structured, geometric appearance. Frontliner features a consistent top alignment, where the cap-height, ascender height, and numeral height all match, and its lowercase letters boast a tall x-height. Despite its wide forms, the typeface’s closed counterforms give it a compact and balanced feel, particularly suited for dense text settings. The lowercase ‘a’ stands out with a distinctive out-stroke, adding character to the overall design.
